O&H Vehicle Conversions proudly exhibited at the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) Ambulance Leadership Forum 2025 as a gold sponsor, presenting our latest fleet innovations: ECOAir and the O&H Resysten System (OHRS). The forum provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with key decision-makers from Ambulance Trusts across the country, discussing the future of the Ambulance service and exploring how O&H can support them in achieving their goals.
In addition to showcasing our latest innovations, we brought two standout vehicles to be displayed outside the event: a fully electric Ford Patient Transport Service (PTS) vehicle, equipped with infrared heating and efficient solar power capability, and a Fiat Ducato national specification Double Crewed Ambulance (DCA)
These vehicles attracted plenty of attention, offering attendees the chance to step inside, explore the layouts, and get a closer look at the features designed to enhance efficiency, safety, and patient care. Our team was on hand to answer questions, providing insights into the design process, type approval, and the benefits these vehicles bring to modern ambulance fleets.
This year’s forum centered around Lord Darzi’s “3 Shifts”—guiding principles for the future of healthcare:
Our solutions align closely with these shifts, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency across ambulance services.
O&H’s exclusive partnership with Resysten® offers an environmentally friendly, hygienic protective coating that protects surfaces from pathogens, viruses and bacteria for 12 months from just one dual-coat treatment. It ensures uninhabitable conditions for biological contaminants on all treated surfaces, including medical equipment, delivering a significant boost to Infection Control and Prevention (IPC).
Test data modelling shows that applying OHRS® to an Ambulance Fleet can reduce the frequency of top-up cleaning whilst significantly improving current IPC and hygiene levels.
There are four key factors that determine the performance of all disinfectant products: surface coverage, kill rates, speed of kill and prevention of regrowth. Uniquely, OHRS® excels at all four.
Surface Coverage: virtually 100% as applied via a professional, electro-static spray with x2 coatings per vehicle.
Kill Rate: 10,000-fold reduction in both surface virus and bacteria with 99.99% eliminated from a single application.
Speed of Kill: 99.99% kill rate of all microorganisms after 10 minutes. NB: both OHRS® spray applications are allowed to dry for at least 2 hrs.
Regrowth: Unlike others, proven to prevent regrowth for 12 months with significant independent laboratory and university testing data, alongside pilot study data from within the NHS and Ambulance Service, to evidence these claims.
Ambulance manufacturing has an important role to play in supporting the NHS Evergreen initiative to deliver Net Zero Carbon Emissions. One way to do this is to reduce the time DCAs spend both at scene and outside hospitals in runlock mode with their engines idling to continue to support all the onboard emergency equipment. The next O&H DCA build incorporates ACETECH™ Eco-Run, which is designed to reduce engine idling, together with solar panels and the latest efficient lithium batteries to reduce their overall carbon footprint.
“We are working hard with our supply partners to install new technologies to reduce the amount of diesel burnt and the consequent harmful emissions produced, including both CO2 and Carbon Monoxide.”
Craig Scaife, Customer Innovation and Engineering Director, O&H Vehicle Conversions.
Driving the Future of Emergency Response
“As a gold sponsor, O&H are proud to stand alongside leaders from both the Ambulance Service and industry to discuss the evolution of emergency vehicle design and share solutions that align with Lord Darzi’s vision. Our innovations in engine idling reduction and hygiene management are supporting AACE and our Trust customers in delivering a more resilient and cost-efficient Ambulance Service.”
Mark Brickhill, Managing Director, O&H Vehicle Conversions.
ALF 2025 provided O&H with a fantastic platform to showcase our latest fleet innovations and highlight the ongoing work behind building emergency vehicles to the highest standards.
The event also sparked important conversations about the future of the Ambulance Service, including O&H’s role in supporting Lord Darzi’s Three Shifts and navigating the changes ahead following the government’s announcement to abolish NHS England.
As the NHS enters a period of transition and uncertainty, it’s clear that these challenges must be met head-on. Through collaboration and innovation, we all have a part to play in shaping a stronger, more resilient NHS.
